A network for skiers & riders passionate about snow sports

Bill

Glad I joined The Loon Ning Community Website

I thought I would write a post to introduce myself here. My name is Bill and I have been skiing my entire life. 40 + years.

New England has been my home most of my life. I lived everywhere between CT, NH, VT. My Summer base camp has been Cape Cod for the last 20 years with a few in VT.

In the winter I mainly ride in Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire, but have been spending full seasons in Colorado at Vail lately. I ski well over a 100 days a year. I'm a ski bum what can I say.

Many people ask me how can I ski so much and how do I pay for it. It's a very long story but I was thrust onto the Internet in 2004 by a accident. (No I didn't get a settlement). I was a home builder who feel.

Having lots of time after recovering from multiple surgeries afforded me time to learn how to make money online. All this time also gave me lots of time to plan a ski bum life after recovery which took 3.5 years. Sitting in a Lazy Boy for 4 years and starring at a poster of Vail's Back Bowls can be motivating.

But anyway I taught myself how to use a computer. Never used one for more than writing a proposal for work. This led to finding ways to make money online. Remember I had nothing to do but type and read websites all day and night.

Once I got my basic skills down I began building websites. I made many mistakes. I was getting into site building to feed myself, but my passion of skiing pushed my first site in that direction. Northeast Ski Zone was my introduction to site building. What a mess. It's been 5 years now and I'm still building the site. I went the wrong direction for making money. Skiing is just to broad of a category for my goals, but its a good place to store all the skiing information in my head. I added a skiing and Outdoor Blog that has hiking and ski trip reports on

Skipping all the fluff I now build some pretty decent websites that make me a good living. It's awesome. I can do my work anywhere in the world as long as I can get online.

During the 08-09 ski season I was in Vail and my day consisted of waking up early. This just happens because of the time differences. I get up around 5AM work online until 8AM or so then get dressed and walk across the parking lot, get on the Beaver Creek Gondola. Depending on conditions I would ski till lunch then go back home and work another 2 or 3 hours. What a life hey?

In my Internet travels I too came across NING. What this site is built on. This is MY NING I built it for finding a place to live in Beaver Creek and Vail. This was a marketing mess because that's the same name as my first website.

I am reinventing MY NING to focus on Skiing In New England and hope some of you stop by. Join and blog about Skiing and Snowboarding in our little corner of the country. You can also find some links to my sites that teach.
others to do what I do.

I will more than likely be ski bumming in New England this coming season. My parents are getting up in years and I don't want to be 2000 miles away if something bad happens. I am seriously considering Lincoln and Loon because of convenience. So you may be seeing me everyday this year. I just need a place to live and a bus route to the mountain.

So that's my hello
